Bayview Residence

This kitchen project was part of a whole house renovation to update a 1950’s rancher.  In addition to new moldings, fixtures and finishes throughout the home, special attention was paid to the new kitchen which exudes elegance and functionality.

The perimeter cabinets in a vintage painted finish are accompanied by a calacutta marble backsplash which lends a warm palette to the space.  Contrasting that warmth are the sleek stainless steel appliances, cool gray stained island and inset tin ceiling which result in a winning combination of finishes.  Not too warm, not too cool, but just right.

To meet functional needs, we included the tall shallow pantry which provides much needed storage.   The furniture style cabinet with a butcher block top at the end of the island faces the dining room and provides a wonderful place to serve appetizers or wine and cheese.   Island seating allows for easy conversation between the cook and a spouse or guest.  And of course, large openings to the family room and dining room allow this petite kitchen to live large.

The show stopping island chandelier adds the perfect final touch to this project.  Simply beautiful.
